Technique
overglaze enamels
Shape
shallow bowl
Description
This is a large two-tiered bowl somewhat pinched at the stem. Grape vines, leaves and fruits are shown hung from above, and floral motifs in the prime coat boldly increase the ornamental effect. Rims designs combine a water motif with a powerful nesting diamond shaped pattern. Finishing colors are green and yellow, while the grapevine, leaf rims, and portions of the fruit are expressed with outlines on the background. This is an impressive work. On the back of this piece, chrysanthemum arabesques are dynamically drawn, and all are painted in yellow.
