Description
Gold painted porcelain has many kinds of styles such as red enamel, matte green glaze, matte cobalt glaze, and matte red glaze. It is our understanding that many works of this style were made at the public kiln of Jingdezhen in the middle of 16th century, around the middle of the Min Dynasty. There is no clear origin of this ewer with handle. Any other works of this style with gold painted porcelain have been made plain in form, and any mouth or handle has been thin and dainty. This ewer has an exotic atmosphere, and a similar iron pitcher can be found in western Asia.
