Description
A sleek line is produced as the mouth curves out and thick neck curves in. A relief decoration of chrysanthemums decorates the round billowing body, and shinogi (ridges) extend from lower part of body to the bottom. A celadon green glaze powerfully covers this vase. In the mouth gold tsukuroi (repair work) can be seen, as well as red-brown remnants from the vase being wrapped with straw mats when fired in the kiln. Though this is a common style of long necked vase from the Gen Dynasty of China, its Chrysanthemum arabesque on the body is rare and prized.
