Description
This is one of Kenzan’s masterpieces, made during his Narutaki days. The bamboo grass being smothered by the snowdrift is expressed in black, and the whirling snow is dynamically expressed in white on both the inside and outside of the bowl, made of eulalia gray clay. This is also a very decorative omnidirectional piece with various-sized openwork, kuchitsukuri design around its mouth in response to the direction of the bamboo grass and with kugibori (nail engraving) of bamboo grass outlines in the side. The name of “Kenzan” is inscribed in black inside the high foot.
