- Description
- This is a fine bowl in the Chinese gosu style with free and relaxed expressions of overglaze red enamel sufficiently revealed. In the flat bottom a lion rolls a ball in a prominent design painted in a faint muddy, dull black cobalt underglaze. Around it and to the sides there are red spotted designs with flower and plant designs painted in green and red. Gold paint increases the beauty of some of the red spots. However it is neither rigid nor overwhelming but charming and is prized as a tea ceremony bowl.
