Bizen wear has the outstanding beauty of Yohen-enhanced clay. Especially prized are works with a fire cross pattern, that we call Hidasuki. When fired they are wrapped in straw which has a salty content, and during the process crimson lines naturally appear. This Shallot shaped sake bottle has special Hidasuki and shows the wonderful effect that can be achieved when the pattern matches the bottle’s stability. In addition it was used well, therefore though it might seem to have a heavy feeling, its continues use adds a familiar air.
