Description
This is a considerably large work. This is a rare piece among the works of Wakasugi kiln and is one of a few large-scale works of the revivaled Kutani ware produced during the Edo period. The body has a pinched texture and the lip opens outward into a dynamic shape. There is a horned Chinese lion and big peony flowers painted with powerful brush strokes covering the whole surface of bowl. The style of this work is called Nuriumede and colors including the characteristic deep green, yellow green, yellow, violet, ultramarine, red are used.
