Description
The Japanese great tits on the pine tree with the pendulous branches hung down are depicted using unique maki-e lacquer. To make them appear three-dimensional, two kinds of gold powder are used for the pine needles. It is unusual for Mexican abalone shell to be used for portraying pine cones. The Iwahirame gold leaf on the side looks the small hill. The blue shells, scattered across the background of pine needles, create a unique effect. This work expresses a graceful and elegant scene that takes on the quality of a design due to the accuracy of the drawing.
