No:04003000Koro (incense burner) in the shape of a lion, in copper

Date
15C
Shape
incense burner
Description
This is an incense burner shaped as a roaring lion with horns. The head is used as the lid, and the gaping mouth allows the smoke to escape. It is made of karakane, bronze with a slightly purplish color, partly patinated. Gold coating can be seen on the horn, the nose and the body. The mane and tail are comparatively elaborately depicted. Judging from its smooth surfaces, this work was molded using wax casting technique. Its four legs are filled with solid iron.
