Large incense burner with a flowers and birds design in iro'e (polychrome overglaze) enamels with kinsai gilding from Kutani Shoza. The lid is topped by a dragon wrapped around and guarding a hoju (treasure pearl). The stout body is supported on three bamboo shaped legs, and is covered in a peony arabesque design in red kinrande (gold brocade style) with round white windows framing detailed flower and bird designs. A typical gorgeously colored saishiki kinran (gilded polychrome) work.
