- This is a shallow bowl with poppies in full bloom and in bud. With skillful structure and line drawing, the relation with flower, leaves and stems is well designed for the round surface of this shallow bowl. The base glaze is filled with spawn motifs. This is a rare example in the Old-Kutani ware. Primary pigments are violet, green and yellow, and ultramarine is used to highlight the color effect. This is a splendid piece having both contrast and a harmony of colors.
