- This is a middle-size screen depicting the Tale of Genji. Six scenes: “Kocho”, “Wakamurasaki”, “Eawase”, “Kiritsubo”, “Momijinoga” and “Miotsukushi” are depicted in brilliant colors on a background of gold created by enclosing each space with cloud figures in gold leaf. IWASA Matabei is thought to have painted this work. Each scene is elegantly depicted with the skillful touch of the traditional Tosa School.
