- Description
- This mask skillfully expresses the divine in the countenance of a smiling old man. He smiles with the corners both eyes slightly downturned. On his forehead and cheek are carved three simple, powerful lines. The lower jaw is hinged, a common feature in masks representing old men. Little remains now of the shaggy eyebrows and beard. The name “Sankobo” is written on its back in gold paint.
