- Description
- Morikage’s superb skill can be seen here and there in this small but free composition. The lotus leaves and the kingfisher on the reed are depicted in the right panel using the bold mokkotsu technique wherein the subject is inked in without outlines. The gradation of the ink gives a lively effect. The sharp bamboo leaves and the round, soft rabbits in the left panel provide a wonderful contrast. Morikage’s tender sensitivities are expressed in the innocent faces of the rabbits.
