- Description
- The iris was one of the Rimpa School’s favorite motifs. This work typifies Kenzan’s aesthetic sensitivity. The loosely drawn and decorative irises are painted in tetsu-e, or rust ironglaze and underglaze blue. The design is skillfully depicted in strong and simple terms. It is believed to be a work he made during his Kyoto Narutaki days.
